International solidarity with the students in Turkey
Since 2 January 2021, students, lecturers, graduates and employees of Boğaziçi University in Istanbul have been protesting against the police presence at the university and for the resignation of the rector who is loyal to the government.
The demonstrators are subjected to police violence. Four students belonging to the LGBTQI+ community were arrested for an art action.
In solidarity with the protests in Turkey, students and lecturers of the Berlin University of the Arts organised a solidarity action last week.

"We stand on the side of the demonstrators and demand:
- The resignation of the rector who is loyal to the government!
- The restoration of the autonomy of Turkish universities!
- The immediate release of the imprisoned students!
- An immediate end to the blockade of the university grounds!
- An immediate end to the (public) attacks and criminalisations of lecturers and the LGBTQI+ community!"
We as AStA of the Berlin University of the Arts join the words of solidarity with the demonstrators in Boğaziçi University and speak out against the oppression of students all over the world.
