Intersectional Workshops #2: Queering the (hegemonial)(normative)(binary) Art Field

14.05.22 • admin_asta

June 10th, 13:00-16:00 - REGISTRATION NECESSARY

The workshop "Queering the (hegemonic)(normative)(binary) Art Field" tests with the students an active (in)questioning of their own position within the (hegemonic), (normative), (binary) art field. neo seefried wants to encourage students to ask themselves uncomfortable questions that create friction. What is my attitude towards the art field? Can I speak for others? Do I know my privileges? What is my background and how does it relate to my artistic practice? What resources are available to me and what are not? How can we break through hegemonic patterns? Questions about reasons and motives, about actors, creators, clients, about those (consciously) (unconsciously) affected (influenced) (favored), about what is visible and what may remain hidden. The workshop is meant to activate the students to actively question their artistic working process and thus to shape their practice critically and maturely. The workshop itself does not provide definitive answers, but illuminates the transformative power of having a voice and translating that voice into an position.

Workshop Language: Hybrid (German + English)

neo seefried is a founding member of the queer-feminist platform ( ) S-P-A-C-E and works as a cultural mediator, activist, author, curator and podcaster in Berlin and Zurich.
